Hu Jintao Attends APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting

The 15th APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting opened in Sydney, Australia September 8, 2007. Chinese President Hu Jintao attended the first session of the meeting.

With the theme of "Strengthening Our Community, Building a Sustainable Future" the meeting mainly discusses topics on climate change and clean development, regional economic integration, support for the Doha round of talks and trade and investment liberalization and facilitation.

According to officials of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Hu would expound China's opinions and proposals on climate change and other issues.

Prior to the meeting, APEC leaders, wearing Australian outback stockman's raincoats, took a group photo.

On the morning, Hu attended the dialogue between APEC leaders and the representatives of the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC).

As the highest level meeting of the organization, APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting has been held annually by its members in turn since 1993.
