Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi Holds Talks with His Venezuelan Counterpart Maduro

On November 15, 2007, Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi held talks in the office building of the Foreign Ministry with Nicolas Maduro Moros, minister of foreign affairs of Venezuela, who is on an official visit to China upon invitation.

During the meeting, Yang said with the joint efforts of both sides, the two countries have make rapid progress in their friendly cooperation on politics, economy, trade, culture, education and social development and kept sound communication and cooperation in international affairs. China is ready to work with Venezuela to push for in-depth development of bilateral cooperation in all areas based on the principle of complementary advantages, equality, mutual benefit and common development, said Yang.

Maduro said the Venezuelan government attaches great importance to developing ties with China and is ready to make greater efforts to continuously strengthen political trust, expand bilateral cooperation and push the strategic partnership of common development to a new level. Venezuela will continue to adhere to the one-China policy, he added.

Both sides also exchanged views on international and regional issues of mutual concern.
